CREA Trademarks

The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), owns a number of marks that are trademarks – and can therefore only be used by CREA, and a number of certification marks that can be used and displayed by CREA members who are licensed practitioners.

The trademarks REALTOR®, REALTORS® and the REALTOR® logo are controlled by CREA and identify real estate professionals who are members of CREA.

• REALTOR® refers to the standard of brokerage services provided by members of CREA. REALTOR® is synonymous with professionalism. And professionalism means at least three things –service, competence and ethics. All three are essential ingredients in the REALTOR® recipe.

The trademarks MLS®, Multiple Listing Service® and the associated logos are owned by CREA and identify the quality of services provided by real estate professionals who are members of CREA.

• An MLS® System is a co-operative selling system operated and promoted by a Board or Association in association with the MLS® Marks. An MLS® System includes an inventory of listings of participating REALTORS®, and ensures a certain level of accuracy of information, professionalism and co-operation amongst REALTORS® to effect the purchase and sale of real estate.
