Larry Westergard Becomes REALTORS® Association President

Edmonton, January 5, 2010: The Board of Directors of the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton is pleased to announce that Larry Westergard, REALTOR®, will serve as President for the 2010 term. Mr. Westergard served as President-Elect in 2009 and succeeds Charlie Ponde as President.

Larry Westergard has been a member of the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton since 1996 and is the owner/manager of a Re/Max office in Southeast Edmonton. Previously he managed and co-owned a real estate brokerage in Leduc.

Larry moved to Alberta in 1979 and graduated from the University of Alberta. He has served on and chaired a number of Association committees including the Member Services Committee, Arbitration and Professional Standards Committee, Government and Political Action Committee and a Broker Advisory committee. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 2007.

Active in his community, Larry volunteers with the REALTORS® Community Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Santa’s Anonymous and supports both the Northern Alberta Society for Animal Protection (NASAP) and the Stollery Children’s Hospital. He has been associated with the Boys and Girls Club in Fort Saskatchewan and Scouts Canada in Bruderheim. He is also involved in community activities and various western and regional committees within his franchise.

Larry is married and is an avid golfer and softball player.

Mr. Westergard will serve as President until December 2010.
