Edmonton, May 13, 2008: The REALTORS® Association of Edmonton is proud to support the Safedmonton Good Neighbour Awards. Awards will be presented at Kids in the Hall Bistro in City Hall tonight, May 13, 2008, at a dinner starting at 6:00 pm. The awards will be presented at 7:15 pm.

Councillor Amarjeet Sohi and Safedmonton Co-Chair Kathy Barnhart will present Good Neighbour Awards to citizens nominated by their neighbours and other community members. The Awards recognize local acts of citizenship, community involvement and cooperation. As a city program, awards will be presented in each ward and all award recipients and their nominators have been invited to the ceremony.

REALTORS® are the exclusive sponsors of the Good Neighbour Awards. REALTORS® know that Quality of Life is a key component in the selection of a new home and these awards help recognize those who contribute to the Quality of Life in our community.

“Nobody moves to LOWER their quality of life,” said Melanie Boles, past president of the REALTORS® Community Foundation.“ As a REALTOR® I sell the community festivals, the arts and culture, the social service agencies and the good neighbours as well as the number of bedrooms and amenities in a house. The Good Neighbour Awards and the people who receive them all make Edmonton a better place to live.”

There are over 3,200 REALTORS® working in Edmonton and about 70% of them are active in their communities as sponsors or volunteers. REALTORS® have helped to build Edmonton for over 80 years.
