Steps to Becoming a Real Estate Associate

The Real Estate Associates Program (REAP) is developed and administered by the Alberta Real Estate Association (AREA) on behalf of the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA). Completion of the course and related examinations is one of the requirements to obtain a real estate associate licence from RECA.

This comprehensive course is divided into three phases:

Phase One

Introduction to a Career in Real Estate is the prerequisite course for the Real Estate Associates Program. Participants must pass the final exam of the course to be eligible to proceed to phase two.

Phase Two

Fundamentals of Real Estate - this phase contains common education modules for anyone trading in real estate. Participants must achieve at least 70 percent on the final exam before proceeding to the next phase.

Phase Three

Real Estate Areas of Practice - this phase introduces three areas of real estate practice: residential, commercial and rural real estate. Participants must pass the final examination at the end of each section.

Real Estate Associates Licensing Education

Pre-licensing Courses - the Phases are offered in two ways
