Phase One: Introduction to a Career in Real Estate
Introduction to a Career in Real Estate is
the prerequisite course for the Real Estate Associates Program,
which is the licensing requirement to become licensed to trade in real estate. Participants
must pass the final exam of the course to be eligible to proceed to Phase
Two.
You must complete the Introduction to a Career in Real Estate course and
pass the exam before beginning Phase Two of REAP. If you have already completed
this course and passed the exam, you do not have to take it again. There
is no prerequisite to take this course, but to be eligible to register for
Phase Two of REAP, you will be asked to submit proof that you hold a high
school diploma or an equivalency. An official transcript must be sent to
AREA's office from the institution you attended and received two working
days before your class start date.
Introduction to a Career in Real Estate is divided into two
parts:
Part One – Real Estate Industry: What is it?
This part is self-study. It discusses the role the real estate industry plays
in the economy, the breadth of the industry and its various sectors, occupations
within real estate and industry organizations.
Part Two – Real Estate Career: Is it for you?
The second part of the course addresses the day-to-day responsibilities of
working in the real estate industry. The structure of licensing and agency
relationships is also covered. Part Two is offered two ways:
